Our annual Easter competition was very well attended, from cute bonnets to impressive egg themed masterpieces; the creativity and talents were Eggcellent! Hayley Wilkinson had the hard task of judging but choose 6 worthy winners. Well done to Leo, Joey, Evan P, Diogo, Isaac and William S (photographed overleaf).

Staff celebrated our ‘Brides to Be’ on Wednesday evening. We wish Aimee, Lucy F and Marta love and best wishes on their wedding days. We cannot wait to see the photographs!

Now for the hard goodbye. Hayley, our School Business Partner, has worked across Hob Moor Federation for 17 years. She is leaving the city for a life in the beautiful countryside of the Yorkshire Dales! Hayley has supported many Headteachers during this time and   supported SO many staff during the beginning of their employment at Hob Moor. Hayley is one of the most happy and hilarious members of our team, who achieves so much behind the scenes to make both schools run smoothly. This week I’ve described Hayley as the heartbeat of our school, from managing our budgets (which includes managing all our   Amazon orders for weird and wonderful resources needed), ordering specialist equipment, invoicing for numerous class trips, risk assessments, facilities management and all things employment (which is no mean feat in a special school!). She really is one of a kind! We will miss you so much Hayley; it is not goodbye, it’s see you soon. Hayley is even coming back to help on our Lea Green  residential. Dedication at its finest! Thank you for everything you have done to support me both personally and professionally. On behalf of the staff, pupils, governors and wider school community—THANK YOU!

Our Mother’s Day afternoon will be on Monday 20th, we will be celebrating all the important ladies in the children’s lives. We will begin our celebrations with cake from 2pm.

Our first group of Y6s had a wonderful time in Lea Green this week  (W-F) they’ve experienced archery, high ropes, cave walking and adapted bikes. Thank you to all the staff team who have given their time and masses of energy to the visit! I can’t wait to hear all about it on Monday!

We are all very excited for the first Y6 Lea Green group next week. Kit lists at the ready!

Our Wellbeing Team (Nicky, Aimee, Gemma and Caroline) would like to invite parents and carers to our workshops. Our first session will be on ‘Using Visual Support and Strategies’ in the home and the community on 7th March. The second is ‘Sensory and Play-based Activities’ on 29th March, and our third, led by Abi Hall, a Specialist teacher for Visual Impairment, is on ‘CVI’ on 3rd May. Please arrive for 9:30am, and enjoy a brew and informal chat about the themes; you’ll come away with resources and ideas.
