I hope that you have all had a lovely half term with your families. It is always great to hear
about any new places you have visited with your children, that you would recommend to
other families. We have had a recent recommendation from one of our families about
Cannon Hall Farm having an accessible play area, so we wanted to share this with you.

As we head towards the summer holidays, it would be really beneficial if we were able to
share other locations and your recommendations with other families within school. If you
have any places which you would like us to recommend to our school families, please

This half term has gone by so quickly, however we have had a few shorter weeks due to
the bank holidays! Nevertheless, it has still been a busy one. Forest Phase have taken
part in educational visits to White Quarry Farm. Woodland and Orchard Phases have
their visits after half term.
Did any of you spot the article about the HMO Knavesmire Sponsored 10K in the York

Next week we will share a full update on our HMO Sponsored 10K event which took place
last Saturday. Thank you to the 15 families and 25 dedicated members of our staff team

Thank you to all of the families who have signed up for the tomorrow’s event. You will be receiving more information today via ParentHub plus a paper letter with
your child. This year’s theme is Superheroes and Princesses, so get those costumes ready!
There is no expectation for families and children to run or complete the entire distance; just do as much as you want to do! You can run, walk, wheel or even
scoot your way around.
If you would like to come to spectate and cheer us on, you are more than welcome; we would love to see lots of familiar face as we take part. We will be starting at
1pm promptly.
We will have a small drinks stand with some donations from Tesco. Please make sure you come prepared with your own refreshments as well. The weather forecast
for Saturday is looking good so please ensure your child/children are dressed appropriately. You may even need suncream and hats!

What a lovely sunny week we’ve had. Please remember to send in suncream and a sun hat for your child. We will apply suncream during the day, but we
ask that parents apply it before school to make sure that children are fully protected from the sun.

This week, as part of our curriculum, we have had a number of visitors in school. Jessie’s Fund continue with their music sessions in Seedlings, Trunks, Oak Leaves & Twigs.
Pupils in Forest Phase had a fantastic introductory session to wheelchair basketball with Harrogate Hammerheads.
We’ve also have a group of pupils from Oak Trees, Woods, Oak Leaves and Branches working with York Theatre Royal as part of their Playhouse project.

Dear Parents and Carers,
I hope that you all had a lovely Easter holiday with your children and families. I’m sure you will all agree that the sunshine and warmer weather helped to
make the holidays just that little bit better.
It was wonderful to see so many smiley children arriving at school on Tuesday morning. There were lots of children who were keen to be straight back
into their learning and classroom routines.
Our curriculum themes for this half term are: Orchard Phase – “ We are on the Move”, Woodland Phase – “Market Place” and Forest Phase – “Farm to
Fork”

Dear Parents and Carers,
The weeks and half terms certainly seem to be flying by. It doesn’t seem that long ago since we were returning to school in January, and here we are finishing for Easter. This
week we have had our Easter Competitions in school. The entries were judged by Millie. Please see overleaf for the winners, and photos of their entries.
We look forward to welcoming children back into school after the Easter holidays on Tuesday 22nd April.

What a wonderful afternoon it has been celebrating the Special Ladies in
our pupils lives. We had 53 family members who have enjoyed baking,
stories, planting seeds and so many other wonderful activities. I hope
everyone who attended had a lovely time.

Dear Parents and Carers,
What a difference the sunshine makes! It has been wonderful to see, and hear, lots of amazing outdoor learning in both classrooms and school playgrounds. Hopefully, as we
move towards the clocks changing and the longer days, the sunshine and warmer weather will continue.
Last night, we had a Staff Twilight Training session. We used this time to make sure that all our staff training was up to date, and to reignite our learning spaces. Our class
teachers received external training on “Planning and Risk Assessing School Trips”. There was also some in-house training which included “Moving and Handling Refresher”,
“NAPPI” guidance plus “Positive Behaviour Support” and “Outdoor Learning Environments”.
The “Outdoor Learning Environments” team have updated our playground games and activities rotas. They have set up contemporary learning areas and introduced new
resources. Today, there have been lots of pupils enjoying using, and sharing, these on the playgrounds, and we are excited to see how their learning is extended from the
classrooms.

Dear Parents and Carers,

Over the last two weeks, we have welcomed 40 York St John University Initial Teacher Training Students into school for an Enrichment Day. Both days have seen the students spending time in two classes, joining the whole school assembly and listening to a presentation from the Leadership Team about Hob Moor Oaks. As part of the talk, we asked the students to capture their “Golden Moments in the classrooms”. Their feedback included the teacher and staff knowledge of pupils, the breadth of the timetable and use of visual support within lessons, and the range of communication strategies used in the classrooms. They also had the opportunity to see a vast range of different learning activities including phonics, attention autism, maths and communication groups. On Monday, Olivia and Shona went to meet the full cohort of students at York St John University, and they were involved in different lectures around “Communication including Makaton” and “Working With Parents”. We hope that all the students were able to take a wealth of information and knowledge from their visit to our school, and go on to use it within their teaching placements in the future.
