Blossoms have started the term by immersing themselves in some jungle themed learning, in preparation for their upcoming performance based around Monkey Puzzle by Julia Donaldson. They
have been getting to know all the animals that feature, giving the monkey, frog and snake extra attention to inspire their learning.
Not only have we been sharing the book and playing I spy using symbols to communicate what we spot as we ‘walk’ through the book together the whole curriculum and provision has reflected our interest in the story.
Learners have been working their fingers hard threading and using their fine motor skills to create our own snakes of all different sizes and patterns. They’ve learnt about the sound snakes make
during our bucket phonics session and enjoyed mark making in s…s…sand and s…s…slime creating lots of squiggles using different tools.
On Tuesdays the children have been exploring camouflage colours to create some jungle themed artwork with Mollie, identifying colours and patterns to produce their own unique design, the jungle is full of colour, it really inspired our learners to express themselves , communicating in lots of different ways.
It no surprise with all the energy our learners have that they have loved learning all about frogs. Developing their jumping skills further, learners were introduced to the trampettes. They showed
amazing control and independence in their movement, helping build strong muscles in our legs just like a frog. We responded to this interest further in provision by using instruments to try and make frogs jump whilst also learning about how to change sounds; making loud and quiet sounds and fast and slow-there were frogs flying everywhere!
Everyone is very excited to share their learning with everyone more in a couple of week!
