This half term, our curriculum topics have been: Orchard Phase: On The High Street,
Woodland Phase: The Grand Old Duke of York
Forest Phase: Life Before Me
As part of each curriculum topic, we provide preparation for life opportunities in the local community. Our Preparation of Adulthood Educational Visits aim to:
• Generalise core skills in social, communication, physical and cognitive development .
• Develop pupils’ independence and life skills.
• Promote access to a wider range of experiences and opportunities in the community for community inclusion.
Orchard Phase are visiting Acomb main street, Woodland Phase are going to the Castle Museum in York and Forest Phase are taking a sightseeing tour around the city. Some of our children even had the pleasure of meeting Paddington Bear outside the Minster!
The staff make lots of resources: social stories, task plans, symbols and signs for these visits. If you would like any support for when you are out in the local community, please ask your class teacher.
