Headteacher Update 7th March 2025

Dear Parents and Carers,

Well, what a truly wonderful “World Book Day” we had yesterday! The theme was “Read Your Way!”, and there was a fantastic buzz and busyness around the school building
throughout the entire day.

The morning started with a Federation Assembly. Classes heard about how “World Book Day” first started and then watched “The Gruffalo” performed by staff from both
schools. Photographs were shared from families of children “Extreme Reading”! This included reading at the Minster, on climbing frames, upside down, with family pets and
also playing sports! Thank you to all those who sent photos; a small selection are shown below. We ended our assembly with “The Masked Reader” which featured a crocodile
reading from “The Giraffe and the Pelly and Me”. During the day, pupils from Hob Moor Oaks shared sensory stories with their partner class in Hob Moor Primary as well as making personalised bookmarks. We also had a “World Book Day” Character Catwalk where myself and Mr Jolly, Hob Moor Primary Head Teacher, judged all of the amazing outfits! A HUGE thank you to all our families who created some fantastic costumes. It was wonderful to see such a large number of children dressed up as so many different characters. Please see over the page for the
winner from each class. An additional thank you goes to Lucy and Sarah, our Communication, Language and Literacy Subject Leaders, for their planning and
organisation of the day along with Mr Donkin in Hob Moor Primary. All pupils should have received their “World Book Day” tokens this week. I hope you enjoy using them towards a
new book to share!
