Headteacher Update 6th October

Well, what another busy week it has been at Hob Moor Oaks!

There are some wonderful learning opportunities taking place within the classrooms around their themes. Across the school we have observed such high levels of engagement, along with the impact of visual support strategies which are in place within our classrooms. Many children across the school use ‘green to red’ timetables to provide visual instruction. This helps children to    understand what is happening now and next but also gives reassurance for transitions. We would love to generalise these strategies to help manage behaviours or consolidate skills learnt in school. I am sure you will see many ‘green to red’ timetables on photos within Tapestry observations. If you have any tricky times during your evenings or weekends, and would like help with visual     support and symbols, please let the teachers know via the Care Diary.

Just a reminder that we are hosting a drop in session with Nicola Inglis, the Short Breaks Co-ordinator, on Monday 9th October between 09:45 – 11:30 to discuss changes to the 100 hours with parents/carers. Everyone is welcome to come along to this drop-in session. The WEB team will also be available at this time.

Over the last 2 weeks we have had an unprecedented number of staff absences in school. This has in turn stretched our capacity in classes, and unfortunately the agency staff who we would usually call upon have also had a huge amount of absence. Please can we ask that if your child is unwell, you do not send them into school as we are trying to contain our colds and viruses as much as possible.

It was wonderful to see so many parents, including new families, join us this morning for our Golden Leaf assembly, where there were so many wonderful achievements celebrated.

Our school Harvest Festival will take place in the final week before half term. You will be receiving a letter about donations from home and the charities which our donations will be supporting.
